Blue Knights Volleyball Signs Isabel Speakman

The Blue Knights volleyball team has signed Isabel Speakman, a setter/opposite from Minnetrista, MN. Isabel played on the varsity team at Westonka High School from 9th -12th grade and reached 1,000 assists in her final season.

"I am really excited to have Isabel as a part of our program. She is a dynamic player with incredible volleyball instincts and competitive spirit. Isabel will bring a lot of great ball control and fire to our team. She will add a lot to our team chemistry." said head coach Jen Bowman.

We asked Isabel a few questions to get to know her better.

Tell us a little about yourself and about your volleyball history up to this point:
I live in Minnetrista with my mom, my older brother and older sister.  I started playing volleyball in the community summer programs when I was in second grade and have been playing ever since.

What is your volleyball experience up to this point?
In 2014 I began playing JO volleyball at Club Tonka. After that season, my coach Bob Keuhl started the Whitehawks JO program and I've played with them through 2018.  I played on my middle school and high school teams, jv in my 8th grade year and the varsity team 9th through 12th grade.

What volleyball/academic awards you have received?
I received MVP in my 9th and 12th grade seasons, and was recognized for reaching 1000 assists my senior year.

Have you played any other sports?
I played fastpitch softball for two years and my team place third in the national tournaments in 2014. I also lettered on my schools track team for two years.
I also participated in gymnastics and basketball but volleyball has always been my favorite sport.

What other interests/hobbies or activities do you participate in?
My hobbies include hanging out with my family and friends, listening to music and babysitting. Volleyball is a large part of my life, when I'm not playing I help out with the youth program and the boys volleyball team.

Why did you choose DCTC and what you are excited about in the coming 2 years?
I chose DCTC because I think it sounds like it is going to be the perfect fit for me. I am still deciding what path I will take and DCTC has many options.  I am looking forward to starting my college career and getting to continue playing volleyball while doing so.

Welcome to the Blue Knight Family Isabel!
