Blue Knights Volleyball Pick up 4 Wins this Weekend and Have 9 Match Win Streak

The Blue Knight volleyball team kept their win streak alive this weekend, picking up four big wins. On Friday, the Knights swept their competition beating Ellsworth (25-15, 25-14, 25-13) and Gogebic (25-23, 25-23, 25-16) in 3 straight sets each.

With the win against Gogebic, the Knights earn the chance to host their first playoff match Thursday October 25th at 7pm. The Knights will play Gogebic again and the winner will head to the Region 13 Championships.

On Saturday, the Knights battled and picked up two more wins. The Knights played the NIACC trojans in the first match of the day and beat them in 4 sets (18-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21). The Knights had a very balanced offense which made it hard for the Trojans to defend. Sam Carr led the Knights with 11 kills and 2 blocks. Laila Chaplin added 10 kills and Mackenna Johnson and Lexi Wendland each added 9. Anika Weber had 45 assists. Haily Dabrowski led the defensive effort with 23 digs and also had 3 aces.

In the second match, the Knights played the Bethel Royals and beat them in three straight sets (25-17, 25-19, 25-19). Sam Carr once again led the Knights with 12 kills and hit .524. She also had 2 blocks and 1 ace. Mackenna Johnson and Laila Chaplin each added 6 kills. Anika Weber had 33 assists.

The Knights have 2 final matches at home (Inver Hills) this week, Tuesday vs Marshalltown at 7pm, and Thursday vs Gogebic at 7pm.
