Blue Knights VolleyBall Season Recap

The Blue Knights volleyball team finished their season last weekend with a 3rd place finish in East Sub Region 13. The Blue Knights started the weekend really well with a 3-0 sweep of Lake Region, and played a highly competitive match against NDSCS. On Sunday, the Knights had to play Lake Region again, but this time did not come out on top.

The Knights were led by sophomore Mikhaila Ness, who ended the weekend with 49 kills. Kalladera Awatt added 23 kills with a hitting % of .315, 10 block assists and 1 solo block on the weekend. Chelsea Keiwel and Lexie Kennedy also added 21 digs for the weekend.

Mikhaila had a spectacular season and ended the season as NJCAA Division II Leader in kills/set with 5.06/set and the NJCAA Leader (of all Divisions) with 511 total kills.

Throughout the season, the Knights faced quite a bit of adversity with multiple injuries, but the team showed a great amount of resilience and finished the season strong. The Blue Knights overall record was 11-19.

"We are going to really miss Mikhaila Ness, Lexie Kennedy, and Jess Hall, our sophomores. They provided a great deal of leadership and experience on the court. They were a joy to coach and I wish them the best of luck as they move on and graduate from DCTC. They were a big part of our success this year and helped build a solid foundation for DCTC volleyball teams in the years to come." said Head Volleyball Coach Jen Bowman.

The Knights graduate 3 sophomores and will return 6 freshman for the 2017-2018 season.
