Blue Knights extend win streak to 10 games
The Dakota County Technical College Women's Soccer team improved their record to 11-1-1 after a busy week of games. On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, the Blue knights traveled to Anoka Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The two teams had just met a week and half earlier, where DCTC won the game in the final two minutes of the game on a goal by Kenya Macias (Farmington High School) assisted by Anna Giles (Henry Sibley High School). Each team having some great scoring chances highlighted this past Wednesday's game. Most of Anoka's chances came on corner kicks and free kick situations, while DCTC was able to finish on three opportunities to win 3-0. Maddie Strid (Eagan High School) scored all three goals.
On Friday, October 9, 2015, the Women's team traveled to Bettendorf, Iowa to play Scott County Community College. The two teams had met earlier in the year during the Labor Day Tournament at DCTC, where the Blue knights won 2-1. The game on Friday, started quickly with Scott County scoring 10 minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Blue knights struggled to connect passes throughout the first half, but were able to tie the game with a corner kick goal by Alisa Allen (Burnsville High School) and was assisted by Anna Giles. DCTC took the lead midway into the second half, when Scott County played the ball back to their keeper and Maddie Strid deflected the clearing ball and Anna Giles placed the ball into the empty net. The Blue knights were able to hold for the 2-1 win with a solid defensive performance by Olivia Jungmann (Tartan High School), Christine Brill (Park High School), Lindsay Florey ( DeLasalle High School), Alicea Del Roye (Tartan High School) and Lizzy Shellum (Northfield High School).
The Blue knights were scheduled to play on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at home versus Lake Superior College from Duluth, Minnesota, but Lake Superior forfeited the game due to a lack of players. The two teams did play earlier this season in Duluth where DCTC won 10-0.
The Blue knights will travel to Chicago for three games next week and then finish the regular season schedule at home on Wednesday the 21st versus Iowa Lakes Community College.
