Softball Takes 2 out of 3 from NDSCS in First Home Series

 

DCTC 10 NDSCS 0

Courtney Heagle threw a shutout to lead DCTC past North Dakota State College Science 10-0 on Saturday. Deymbre Avalos led the Blue Knights to victory by driving in four runs. She went 2-for-3 at the plate. Avalos drove in runs on a single in the first and a home run in the first. Heagle pitched the Blue Knights to victory. She lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one. DCTC racked up nine hits in the game. Larkin, Avalos, and Kalley Partyka all had multiple hits.

NDSCS 7 DCTC 6

DCTC fought back after falling down by four runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to North Dakota State College Science on Saturday. The Blue Knights scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Maggie Hardy in the sixth, a walk by Kalley Partyka in the sixth, a single by Deymbre Avalos in the sixth, and a stolen base by Partyka in the seventh. Hardy, Partyka, and Avalos all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Megan Manor took the loss, she allowed 12 hits and six runs over seven and a third innings, walking zero. Hardy led the Blue Knights with two hits in two at bats.

In the first inning, DCTC got their offense started. Deymbre Avalos singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Courtney Heagle led the Blue Knights to victory on the rubber. She lasted five innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out one. Megan Manor threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Manor recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Blue Knights. DCTC scattered nine hits in the game. Kaitlyn Nash and Avalos each managed three hits.
