Softball Sweeps Four In Regional League

Rosemount, Minn. - On Saturday, the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knight softball team completed a four game sweep of Lake Region State College with a come from behind victory in the last game of the series played at DCTC's UMore Softball Complex. The four games were the first of 16 that will determine the regional champion and the host of the District playoff series to advance to the 2015 NJCAA National Softball Tournament.

In the last game of the series, DCTC scored three runs the in the bottom of the sixth inning to go ahead by one. Lake Region then scored in their last at bat to knot the game. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Ellie Schneider (Freshman New Ulm) scored the game winning run when Taylor Vagt (Freshman Highlands Ranch, CO) slapped a game winning hit. Trena Larson (Sophomore Prior Lake) was four for five in the game.

Larson showed second season wisdom earning seven walks in the weekends four games. Jordyn Breitbarth (Freshman Hilo, HA) was eight for 15 with five runs batted in (RBI's). Schneider was seven for 14 with five RBI's.

The Blue Knights have a single non region game at St. Thomas University on Thursday and then travel to North Dakota  for a key region four game series against the Mystics of Bismarck State College. DCTC is now 8-11 (4-0 in Region XIII) on the season.
