The Men's and Women's soccer teams are in the most competitive stretch of their schedules. Both teams play in the Iowa Community College Athletics Conference (ICCAC) which is regarded by many to be the toughest conferences in the country from top to bottom for both Men's and Women's soccer. The Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) teams are comprised of players primarily from the metro are of Minneapolis/St. Paul with a handful of student athletes from greater Minnesota. Coach Mark Obarski, said, "he and his assistant coach (Chris Petersen) enjoy recruiting from the local area, as it is great to give the local players an opportunity to play collegiate soccer and have their friends and family attend games." Both coaches spend many nights in the fall attending high school games and recruit from club soccer during the winter, spring and summer. By contrast, the majority of the teams in the ICCAC recruit international players from locations throughout the world. Obarski said, "this presents a challenge as they bring in athletes that have been out of high school for a few years and have been dedicating their lives to playing collegiate soccer in the United States, but one that is welcomed." While the conference is full of talented players from around the World, DCTC has many of their own players who possess excellent skills and the ability to play the game of soccer. A recent example is former player Kapaw Htoo (played at DCTC last season) who now plays for the University of Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
