Men’s Soccer Win Playoff in Nebraska - Zziwa Scores With Three Minutes to Play to Advance Knights

Norfolk, Neb. -- On Monday the Blue Knights Men's Soccer team took on Northeast Community College at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Norfolk, Nebraska as part of the first round of the NJCAA Regional Tournament. DCTC would leave town with a 3-2 playoff win.

Michael Zziwa (Freshman, Uganda) scored the game winning goal from inside the goalbox, with three minutes remaining on a corner kick taken by Kapow Htoo (Freshman, St. Paul). DCTC had held a 2-1 lead until the 77th minute when Northeast tied the game at two gaols each. Zziwa's goal was his eighth of the year and for the fifth time this season, served as the game winner for DCTC. Other scoring for DCTCin Monday's playoff came from Francisco "Paco" Martinez (Freshman, Columbia Heights) and Henry Puchuela (Sophomore, Richfield). Max Chase (Freshman, Shakopee) earned his 12th win of the year as goalkeeper.

The Blue Knights are now 12-6-2 on the season and travel to Iowa on Wednesday for a Regional Quarterfinal game at Marshalltown Community College. The MCC Tigers are ranked 5th in the NJCAA Division I and are unbeaten on the season at 16-0-2. The winner of the Region advances to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Virginia later in November.
