Blue Knights (#12) Rebound With Win

DCTC returns to win columb after win streak ends in Iowa.

St. Paul, Minn. -The Dakota County Technical College Mens basketball team defeated Bethel University (JV) 78-54 on Wednesday night in a game played at the St. Paul Salvation Army.  Earlier in the week, the Blue Knights saw their record 12 game win streak come to an end in a 76-59 loss against Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge Iowa. DCTC now stands at 18-5 on the season with four out of its five remaining games at home.  The Blue Knights have also earned home court advantage for the first three playoff rounds prior to the 2015 NJCAA National Tournament.

The win against Bethel was highlighted with five DCTC players scoring 10 points or more.  Leading the way and driving the tempo of the game was a Darrian Pittman(Freshman Bloomington) who scored 11 points, seven assists and pulled down seven rebounds.  On Monday, while most of the Blue Knights struggled at Iowa Central, Sam Burt(Sophomore Apple Valley) showed strong, with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The loss was the second defeat to the Tritons this season.

Head Coach Ben Davis remains positive: "Monday we struggled to shoot the ball and overall, the game served as the wakeup call we needed.  I am happy the way we responded tonight with great defense and unselfish offence".

Knight Notes:

  • DCTC, 18-5 and are currently ranked 12th in the nation in the latest NJCAA National Division II poll, the highest ranking in the program in the last three seasons.
  • The Blue Knights return to action next Wednesday February 4that 7pm when they host Ellsworth Community College at the Sal.
  • Dakota County has earned home playoff advantage at the Sal starting with the Regional playoff on Wednesday February 25thwhen they will take on Gogebic Community College of Michigan.
