Blue Knights Defeat Ranked Rochester

Seven wins in a row after beating the Yellowjackets 83-80

Coon Rapids, Minn. - Dakota County Technical College Basketball is on a roll after winning seven games in a row over the last month.    DCTC last lost was on December 2nd at Rochester. DCTC avenged that loss on Saturday night by defeating a strong RCTC team, 83-80 in a game played at the Anoka Ramsey Community College Invite. RCTC came into the game with a 10-2 overall record and ranked #8 in the most recent NJCAA Division III poll.

The game itself saw back and forth lead changes. DCTC's Sam Burt (sophomore, Apple Valley) had a big night controlling the paint and finishing with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Nick Sabatke (sophomore, Eagan) finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds which included five 3-point baskets. Noble Fahnbulleh (freshman, Hopkins) had 8 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists on the night highlighted by two key offensive rebounds in the last minute of the game to help seal the win.

Head Coach Ben Davis commented; "I was really proud of the way our guys competed today. Our guys showed a lot of fight and were able to beat a very tough and extremely well coached RCTC team. We had a lot of guys step up and make big hustle plays down the stretch to help us win this game".

DCTC returns to their home court at the St. Paul Salvation Army gym when they host hosting Gogebic Community College at 7pm.

- The win is DCTC's 7th win in a row with last loss on Dec 2nd at Rochester

- Despite being outrebounded 24-15 in the first half, DCTC finished the game's rebounding battle 43-33

- DCTC plays a critical inter-regional home matchup this Wednesday when hosting Gogebic Community College

- GCC eliminated DCTC from the 2014 regional playoffs

- A Wednesday win over GCC would guarantee DCTC a home playoff game'

- DCTC has not been in the national Poll since 2012

- DCTC is now 12-4 on the season and hopes to crack into the NJCAA Division II Weekly Poll Wednesday January 7th
