Garrett Boyum
Title: Assistant Baseball Coach

Garrett has a Master of Science (MS) in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Motor Learning and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He has a diverse coaching background working with Division 1 to youth athletes. He has previously coached at Missouri State University (Springfield, MO) as a graduate assistant, Cornerstone University (Grand Rapids, MI), 108 Performance (Riverside, CA), Dakota County Technical College (MN), Excelsior Junior Legion, St. Agnes High School, St. Louis Park Junior Legion, and Hopkins Babe Ruth Baseball. 

He has also worked as a Strength and Conditioning coach interning at the University of Minnesota, Augsburg University, Hamline University, and Hopkins High School and worked at Inspired Athletx (Plymouth, MN).

Garrett has recently returned to Dakota County Technical College to coach alongside Head Coach Blaine Barthel and Assistant Coach Chase Hentges. He is also a partner with Emergence which is a movement skill education company focused on helping coaches and players enhance their capacity to see the work they do in practice transfer to the game. 

With over 10 years of coaching experience, Garrett takes a holistic learner-centered approach to come alongside players to facilitate their growth and development. 

Garrett resides in Shakopee with his wonderful wife Katie and son Ezra. He played collegiately at Hamline University and was a member of the program's first MIAC Tournament Championship team in 2011. 

Garrett graduated from Hamline with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies with a minor in Education and History in 2012, and a Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Motor Learning from Missouri State in 2021.
