Baseball Sets School Record for Wins and Finishes the Season as Region XIII Runner-Up

The Blue Knights battle out of a first round lost to work back through the losers' bracket to the Championship but fall just short after forcing a second Region XIII Championship Game. The 33-17 overall record for the Blue Knights sets a new school record for total wins. The previous record was 31 wins that was set back in 2008.

Miles CC 11 DCTC 3

The Blue Knights lost the lead late in an 11-3 defeat to Miles CC on Friday. DCTC had the lead going into the 6th but didn't execute defensively which lead to 7 run from Miles with two outs. The Blue Knights struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Miles CC after the 6th. Turner earned the win for Miles CC. He surrendered three runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out seven. Alex Winslow took the loss for Blue Knights. He allowed five hits and six runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Parker Savard went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Blue Knights.

DCTC 10 Dawson CC 1

DCTC coasted to an easy victory over Dawson CC 10-1 on Saturday Blue Knights evened things up at one in the top of the fourth inning when Ian Walker singled for a RBI. Then DCTC pulled away for good with two runs in the fifth inning on Caleb Ditmarson two run homer. Blue Knights notched five runs in the eighth inning. Blue Knights batters contributing to the big inning included Clayton Harris, Brad Goulet, and Trent Fredenburg, all driving in runs in the frame. Dalton Hoffman took the win, he surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out five. Jake Wensmann threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Wensmann recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for the Blue Knights. Blue Knights tallied two home runs on the day. Fredenburg had a homer in the eighth inning. Ditmarson had a four bagger in the fifth inning. Blue Knights totaled 12 hits. Fredenburg, Walker, and Ditmarson each managed multiple hits for Blue Knights. Walker and Fredenburg each managed three hits to lead the Blue Knights.

DCTC 6 Bismarck State College 2

The Blue Knights scores more runs than Bismarck State, takes victory on Saturday to the tune of 6-4 After DCTC scored one run in the top of the fourth, Bismarck State answered with one of their own. Blue Knights scored when Mike Vohnoutka singled for a RBI. Bismarck State then answered when Brewer singled, scoring one run. The Blue Knights took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third, Parker Savard singled for a RBI and Brad Goulet hit a two run home run. John McCaustlin led the Blue Knights to victory on the pitcher's mound. He allowed five hits and four runs over five innings, striking out four. Jake Wensmann threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Wensmann recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Blue Knights. Blue Knights collected 11 hits on the day. Savard, Vohnoutka, and Ian Walker all managed multiple hits.

DCTC 6 Miles CC 4

Despite seeing its five-run lead whittled down by the end, Blue Knights still held off Miles CC for a 6-4 victory on Sunday. Miles CC put up four runs in the failed comeback. Johnson, Johnson, and Riley came through with RBIs to lead the rally. Blue Knights got things moving in the second inning, when Trent Fredenburg hit a solo homer. Conor Merton took the win for the Blue Knights. He allowed seven hits and four runs over six and a third innings, striking out two. Jack Stoddard threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Stoddard recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for Blue Knights. Rofe took the loss for Miles CC. He went six innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out one. Blue Knights socked three home runs on the day. Fredenburg put one out in the second and third innings. Brad Goulet had a dinger in the third inning. Blue Knights saw the ball well, racking up ten hits in the game. Fredenburg, Goulet, and Ian Walker all collected multiple hits. Fredenburg went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead DCTC in hits.

Miles CC 6 DCTC 2

Blue Knights got on the board in the second inning. Trent Fredenburg hit a solo homer. Miles CC evened things up at one in the top of the third inning. Then Miles CC pulled away for good with three runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Jones was hit by a pitch, driving in a run and Johnson doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Jack Stoddard took the loss, he surrendered four runs on five hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three. DCTC launched two home runs on the day. Fredenburg had a four bagger in the second inning. Brad Goulet had a long ball in the ninth inning. Mike Vohnoutka led the Blue Knights with two hits in three at bats.
