Baseball heads to Bismarck for the Region XIII Tournament. Plays Miles CC Friday at 1 pm
The Blue Knights defeated Bay College 4-0 in the independent Region XIII seven game play-in series over the past two weekends to qualify for the Region XIII tournament. With their series win, DCTC receive the automatic #3 seed and play #2 seed Miles Community College at 1:00 pm on Friday in Bismarck, ND. Bismarck State College is the #1 seed with a 32-8 overall record and is currently ranked 20th in the NJCAA Nation poll and plays Dawson Community College the #4 seed with a 12-27 record.
The Blue Knights finish the regular season with a 30-15 record and are currently receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II National Poll. Offensively, the Blue Knights are led by Trent Fredenburg, Bradley Goulet, Henry Laue, and Parker Savard. Fredenburg (So., OF, Coon Rapids, MN) is batting .377 with 18 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 35 RBI, 40 runs scored and 16 stolen bases; Goulet (So., SS, Cottage Grove, MN) is batting .321 with 12 doubles, 7 triples, 4 home runs, 32 RBI, 43 runs scored and 34 stolen bases; Laue (Fr., 1B, Mahtomedi, MN) is batting .319 with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 29 RBI, and 19 runs scored; and Savard (Fr., IF, Sudbury, ON) is batting .356 with 9 doubles, 36 RBI, 32 runs scored and 15 stolen bases. DCTC biggest strength over the season has been their pitching with 3.63 team ERA. Starters Alex Winslow, Dalton Hoffman, John McCaustlin and relievers Ethan Cernohous, Spencer Kopp, and Jack Stoddard have lead the Blue Knights. Winslow (So., LHP, Ham Lake, MN) is 6-1 with a 1.29 ERA and 81 strikeouts; Hoffman (So., LHP, Anoka, MN) is 5-3 with a 2.61 ERA and 40 strikeouts; McCaustlin (Fr., RHP, Prior Lake, MN), is 3-3 with a 4.35 ERA and 38 strikeouts; Cernohous (Fr., RHP, Bulverde, TX) is 2-0 with a 0.66 ERA and 11 strikeouts; Kopp (Fr., RHP, Hastings, MN) is 3-2 with a save and a 1.98 ERA and 23 strikeouts; and Stoddard (Fr., RHP, Waconia, MN) is 3-0 with 3 saves and a 1.30 ERA and 23 strikeouts
