 Baseball Splits double header, falls in halted game: Heads to Bay College finish Region XIII Play-in Series

DCTC and Bay College will play a seven game series over two weekends for a spot in the playoffs. The winner of this series will head to the four team double elimination Region XIII tournament on May 10th-12th. The Region XIII tournament will hosted by the MON-DAK Conference Tournament winner. This series will be played as follows:

NIACC 10 DCTC 8

The halted game from April 2nd against NIACC was a heartbreaker for Blue Knights, as they lost the lead late in a 10-8 defeat. The game was tied at eight with NIACC batting in the top of the eighth when C Parker doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Despite the loss, DCTC did collect six hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, NIACC had 12 hits on the way to victory. Blue Knights captured the lead in the first inning. Blue Knights scored three runs when Wyatt Lampel doubled. NIACC evened things up at eight in the top of the seventh inning with two outs and two strikes when B Fitzgerald hit a solo homer. Spencer Kopp took the loss, he allowed two hits and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one. John McCaustlin started the game for the Blue Knights. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out five Lampel went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Blue Knights in hits.

DCTC 5 NIACC 3

Blue Knights snatched the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over NIACC on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with Blue Knights batting in the top of the eighth when Carter Wendlandt singled, scoring one run. Blue Knights got things moving in the second inning. Blue Knights scored one run on a stolen base by Fredenburg. In the bottom of the seventh inning, NIACC tied things up at three. J Christanson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Jack Stoddard earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for the Blue Knights. He surrendered three runs on three hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Spencer Kopp started the game for the Blue Knights. He allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking zero Trent Fredenburg had a long ball in the fourth inning. Fredenburg went 2-for-3 at the plate.

NIACC 4 DCTC 2

Blue Knights fell 4-2 to NIACC on Wednesday despite out-hitting them five to three. NIACC fired up the offense in the first inning. F Leum hit a solo homer. Blue Knights evened things up at one in the top of the third inning. E Reifert's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Blue Knights. NIACC pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. Ditmarson took the loss, He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out one. Brad Goulet went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Blue Knights in hits.
