Baseball takes four from Bay College. Head to NIACC Wednesday

 

The Blue Knights swept Bay on the weekend and take a 3 out of 3 in the seven game play in series. They head to NIACC on Wednesday to play a doubleheader and finish the halted game from April 2nd.

 

DCTC and Bay College will play a seven game series over two weekends for a spot in the playoffs. The winner of this series will head to the four team double elimination Region XIII tournament on May 10th-12th. The Region XIII tournament will hosted by the MON-DAK Conference Tournament winner. This series will be played as follows:

Alex Winslow didn't allow a run as Blue Knights defeated Bay College 6-0 on Friday. Winslow allowed just four hits. Blue Knights secured the victory thanks to five runs in the third inning. The rally was led by singles by Trent Fredenburg and Gus Newman and doubles by Brad Goulet and Parker Savard. Blue Knights notched five runs in the third inning. Goulet, Savard, Fredenburg, and Newman all drove in runs in the frame. Winslow was the winning pitcher, he went seven innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out 13. The Blue Knights saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Savard, Fredenburg, and Goulet each collected multiple hits for the Blue Knights.

DCTC 10 Bay College 6

The Blue Knights defeated Bay College 10-6 thanks to a strong start. Blue Knights scored on a double by Ian Walker in the first inning, a single by Parker Savard in the second inning, a triple by Walker in the second inning, and a error in the second inning. Blue Knights earned the victory despite allowing Bay College to score four runs in the first inning. John McCaustlin took the win for the Blue Knights. He surrendered five runs on three hits over four innings, striking out three. Jake Wensmann threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Wensmann recorded the last nine outs to earn the save. DCTC tallied ten hits in the game. Savard, Carter Wendlandt, Walker, and Brad Goulet each racked up multiple hits.

DCTC 1 Bay College 0

Dalton Hoffman threw a shutout to lead Blue Knights past Bay College 1-0 on Saturday. The pitching was strong on both sides. Hoffman struck out ten, while J Popelka sat down seven. In the first inning, Blue Knights got their offense started when Ian Walker singled to score Goulet. Hoffman was the winning pitcher for the Blue Knights. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out ten and walking one. Blue Knights had five hits in the game. Goulet and Walker each had two hits to lead Blue Knights.

DCTC 7 Bay College 2

Blue Knights defeated Bay College 7-2 on Saturday. Blue Knights got things started in the first inning. Savard drove in two when he singled. Conor Merton pitched the Blue Knights to victory. He surrendered two runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero. Spencer Kopp and Jack Stoddard entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. DCTC collected nine hits on the day. Goulet and Caleb Ditmarson all managed multiple hits for the Blue Knights.
