Baseball fall to NIACC in game one, game two halted due to darkness (to be resumed May 1st)

 

Game 2 was halted because of darkness in the bottom of the 6th inning with DCTC leading 8-7. The game will be resume May 1st in Mason City, IA when the Blue Knights meet NIACC for their away portion of the four game set. Game time has yet to be determined.

 

Game 1

NIACC got things started in the second inning.  In the bottom of the third inning, Blue Knights tied things up at two when Parker Savard and Trent Fredenburg singled for a RBI each. NIACC pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth,  Fitzgerald homered scoring three runs. Swanson was the winning pitcher for NIACC. He surrendered four runs on six hits over six innings, striking out five.  Sturek recorded the last two outs with the bases loaded to earn the save for NIACC. Jake Wensmann took the loss for the Blue Knights. He allowed five hits and five runs over four innings, striking out four.  Savard went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Blue Knights in hits.
