Blue Knights Baseball is excited for 2017 fall season

The Blue Knights have made some exciting changes over the summer. They have added two new coaches, 28 freshmen ball players, and a great fall schedule. They will also be making updates to the field and hitting facility throughout the fall.

Coach Erzar is excited to announce Dana Kiecker and Kevin Kirkwold have been added to the Blue Knights coaching staff. Dana Kiecker, a former Major Leaguer, comes with a wealth of baseball experience. He pitched for the Boston Red Sox in the early nineties. Kiecker was drafted in the 8th round of the 1983 MLB draft after a successful career at Saint Cloud State University. Kevin Kirkwold also brings a lot of coaching experience to the staff. He was the head coach at Simley High School, an assistant at the Academy of Holy Angels, coach and administer for Inver Grove Heights Legion and MN MASH coach. Kevin currently works with the Minnesota Millers as their 18U head coach. During Kevin's playing career, he was third baseman and designated hitter at Winona State and an All-Confernce and Lions All-Star at Mounds View High School.

The Blue Knights started their fall schedule playing Century College on Sunday. They will travel to Mason City, IA to play in the 2nd Annual NIACC JUCO Fall Classic on September 22nd. The Blue Knights will face NICAA and Southeast CC. Both teams have been World Series participants from the North Plains District for the past two years. Next the Blue Knights will head down to Iowa for a second time in the fall to scrimmage Luther College on October 1st. They will finish their fall season with the Black and Blue World Series. The seven game series is an intersquad battle. The teams will be determined via a player fantasy draft of Blue Knight ball players.

The Blue Knights will be re-sodding the areas in the infield this fall. The updates will continue after the 2018 season with sodding over the baselines from home to first and home to third. In the hitting facility, they have replaced a three cages with new netting, added a driveline protected wall, and two 9-hole pocket targets.
