Blue Knights Take A Four Game Sweep Over LRSC

Game 1 14-1

  • Cody Gruenhagen gave Lake Regions State College fits, as he bagged four hits in Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights 's 14-4 victory on Friday. Gruenhagen doubled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the third, and singled in the fifth.
  • The Blue Knights secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the third inning. Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights scored on a single by Cody Gruenhagen, a single by Marcus Biasatti, a walk by Caleb Zoda, a double by Travis Schmidt, a single by Nolan Baier, a single by Anthony Bobrowski, and a walk by Biasatti.
  • Lake Regions State College captured the lead in the first inning. Jon Lund's sac fly scored one run for Lake Regions State College.
  • Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights took the lead for good with nine runs in the third inning. In the third Gruenhagen singled off of Byrce Hunt, driving in one run, Biasatti singled off of Hunt, driving in one run, Hunt walked Zoda to drive in a run, Schmidt doubled off of Hunt, driving in two runs, Baier singled off of Hunt, driving in one run, Bobrowski singled off of Hunt, driving in one run, Josiris DelOrbe Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, and Hunt walked Biasatti to drive in a run.
  • Joel Virshek earned the win for the Blue Knights. He tossed five innings, giving up four runs, six hits, striking out four, and walking one. Hunt took the loss for Lake Regions State College. He pitched four and two-thirds innings, giving up 14 runs, 14 hits, and striking out two.
  • DCTC collected 14 hits. Gruenhagen, Baier, Biasatti, and Bobrowski each collected multiple hits for Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights . Bobrowski and Baier each drove in three runs to lead DCTC.

Game 2 4-3

  • The Blue Knights defeated Lake Regions State College 4-3 on Friday thanks to a walk-off error. The game was tied at three with Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights batting in the bottom of the eighth when there was an error, scoring one run.
  • DCTC knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out in the sixth inning Dylan Bergstad drove in one run when he doubled.
  • Tyler Haley earned the win for the Blue Knights. He went two and two-thirds innings, giving up zero runs, zero hits, and striking out three.
  • Saliel Riveria started the game for the Blue Knights . He went five and a third innings, surrendering three runs, seven hits, and striking out two.
  • Anthony Bobrowski, Bergstad, and Marcus Biasatti each drove in one run

Game 3 7-2

  • Dakota County Technical College defeated Lake Regions State College 7-2 thanks to a strong start. 
  • DCTC took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Josiris DelOrbe Martinez drove in two runs when he homered.
  • Bryndyn Shipquist earned the win for the Blue Knights. He went seven innings, allowing one earned run, four hits, and striking out five.
  • The Blue Knights had 15 hits in the game. Gruenhagen, DelOrbe Martinez, Trevor Epps, and Alberto Fabian each collected multiple hits for DCTC . Epps, DelOrbe Martinez, and Gruenhagen all had three hits.

Game 4  17-13

  • Dakota County Technical College and Lake Regions State College traded the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but eventually DCTC prevailed 17-13. The Blue Knights took the lead for good in the fourth inning. The game was tied at ten with DCTC batting in the bottom of the fourth when Caleb Zoda doubled off of Ryan Alain, driving in one run.
  • Both offenses were strong at the plate as DCTC collected 19 hits and Lake Regions State College 13
  • DCTC took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Brock Woodruff singled off of Ryan Alain, driving in one run, Chad O'Hehir grounded out, scoring one run, and Dylan Bergstad singled off of Alain, driving in one run.
  • Tyler Haley earned the win for the Blue Knights. He tossed one and one-third innings, surrendering three runs, two hits, and striking out two. 
  • Nolan Baier, Bergstad, Caleb Zoda, Cody Gruenhagen, O'Hehir, and Josiris DelOrbe Martinez each collected multiple hits. Gruenhagen went 2-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with four runs batted in.
