Volleyball Beats #6 in NJCAA D3 and Picks Up Big Region XIII Win

Volleyball took down #6 ranked NJCAA Division III St. Cloud Tech and beat Region XIII rival Lake Region in the most recent matches.  

Last Wednesday night in 4 sets, DCTC defeated St. Cloud Technical College 25-23, 26-28, 25-13, 25-22.  Sophomore Mackenna Johnson had another double double and led the Knights with 20 kills, 12 digs, 5 blocks, and 3 aces.  Freshman Sonja Pierce and Isabel Speakman had 13 kills and 11kills, respectively.  Sophomore Anika Weber had a double double with 47 assists, 17 digs, 3 aces, and 2 blocks.  

On Saturday, the Knights beat Region XIII rival Lake Region is an exciting 5 sets after coming back from an 0-2 start. Match scores were 17-25, 24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 15-10.  Johnson had 14 kills, Speakman had 13 kills while hitting .364.  Sophomore Jada Aljubailah added 10 kills.  Anika Weber had 40 assists and 16 digs.  Sophomore Abigail Shaffer led the defense with 26 digs.  

In the second match of the day for the Knights, they beat Bethany Lutheran JV (NCAA DIII) in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-12, 25-16.  The Knights had a hitting efficiency over .400 for the first two sets.  Johnson had 14 kills with a season high .444 hitting percentage.  Schaffer added 21 digs and Aljubailah added 6 kills and 2 blocks.  

The Knights take Century College at 7:00pm Wednesday at home and Ellsworth CC Saturday at 11:00am at home.
