Blue Knights Volleyball Goes 3-2 Over Last Week

 

The Blue Knights volleyball team picked up 3 more wins over the last week. The Knights beat Bethany Lutheran JV in 3 straight sets on Wednesday (25-13, 25-12, 25-17), and then beat Mesabi Range (25-17, 25-15, 25-18) and Oak Hills Christian (25-16, 25-26, 25-19) in 3 straight sets as well.

 

Against Bethany Lutheran, the Knights were led by Mackenna Johnson, who had 8 kills on 11 attempts (.636%), 2 blocks, and 3 aces. Lexi Wendland added 9 kills and 9 digs. Haily Dabrowski added 9 digs. Maddie Ries had 3 aces.

 

Friday night, the Knights hosted a triangular tournament with Mesabi Range Community and Technical College and Oak Hills Christian College. In the match against Mesabi, Mackenna had 13 kills and 2 blocks. Laila Chaplin added 7 kills (.462%). Maddie Ries added 3 blocks.

 

Mackenna and Lexi led the charge against Oak Hills with 15 and 13 kills respectively. Lexi hi .611% and added 2 aces and 7 digs. Haily Dabrowski led the team with 13 digs.

 

Sunday proved to be a little tougher for the Knights on the road with losses against North Iowa Area Community College and Marshalltown Community College. 

 

The Knights battled hard against NIACC, but lost in 4 sets (23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 14-25). Jada Aljubailah and Lexi Wendland led the Knights with 8 kills a piece. Jada also added 2 aces. Sonje Odegard and Sam Carr each added 5 kills. Anika Weber led the defensive effort with 16 digs and also added 36 assists.

 

The next match, the Knights lost to Marshalltown in 3. (14-25,20-25,19-25). The Knights were led in the effort by Jada with 6 kills and 3 blocks. Mackenna and Lexi added 5 kills a piece. Anika added 14 digs, while Mackenna had 13 digs.

 

​The Knights are looking to rebound after a couple tough road losses and will play the make up match against St. Thomas JV on Thursday at 7pm, at Inver Hills. They then head on the road again Sunday to play Lake Region and Bottineau.
