Softball Sweep at Bismarck State.

Rosemount, Minn. – Last weekend, the Blue Knights Fastpitch Softball team traveled to North Dakota and came away with a second four game sweep in as many weekends. The wins brought DCTC's record up to 8-0 in the sixteen game regional league making this weekends' home stand against Williston State College a pivotal series in the chase for a regional championship. Overall, DCTC is 12-11 on the season with 12 remaining games and eight in league.

In last weekends first game Cassy Gerchy (Freshman Sauk Rapids) pitched a masterful three hit game in shutting out the Mystics. Ellie Schneider (Freshman New Ulm) and Annica Sierra (Freshman St. Paul) both went two for three at the plate with three runs batted in (RBI's) each. Trena Larson (Sophomore Savage) went three for three.

In Saturday's second game, bats got hot as the Blue Knights collected 20 runs on 22 hits. Jordyn Breitbarth (Freshman Hilo, HI) led the way going four for five with seven RBI's including a grand slam home run. Breitbarth hit 3 homeruns for the weekend. Taylor Vagt went four for five with three RBI's Sierra pitched a three hit win.

Sunday's games were more difficult as the Knights needed strong run support to win both games. Bridget Lotzer, Sierra and Vagt went two for four as the Blue Knights held on for the victory.

In the final game of the series the Mystics came out strong to take a 7-6 lead into the sixth inning. The Knights reacted with four runs in the bottom of the same inning to take the final lead. Gerchy came back in to pitch and registered both wins for the day. Sierra was three for four and Schneider was two for four in the victory.

The Blue Knights are home this Wednesday with a non-league game versus Bethel University at 3:30pm. This weekend the Knights host Williston State College in a huge four game series with games at 1 and 3pm Saturday and Sunday. Home games are played at the Umore Park Softball Fieldslocated on the south side of the DCTC Campus.
